I'm very sorry that I took so long to reply, I have been really busy with my college work. :( I'll try to be on here more this week, hopefully. I still have a little bit of my Term Projects to finish for the end of this month. :(

Yes, I believe that the problem could have been coming from that all along. Hopefully Windstream will be able to get that problem fixed very soon. Good Luck! :)

Please let me know if the problem still persists after that though and I'll try to give you some other advice.

we do have our computer protected and need a password to log on. i came home yesturday and couldent get my home page to come up at all.i tried for a while and the router connection failure was all i could get. i got mad and called windstream . why pay for high speed internet and just get it 1/2 the time. i set on the phone and reset the router and complained about the speed and service.he had me to go to speedtest.net . my pc wasent running good enough for the test and he told me the lines on our street was going bad. windstream said they will take care of the problem . i am hoping this will solve my problems. could this be my problem all along? thanks!

Yes, that could cause a problem. May I ask, is your network unprotected? By this I mean, can anyone get onto your network without having to enter a password? If so, I would advise that you have someone who is authorized to work on that router, set up a "Protected" network for you. This will prevent anyone expect those who know your password to log onto your network. Also I know that Linksys routers allow you to do this, but I'm not sure if yours will, they might be able to set up the router so that only your computer can get onto the network, by logging it's Mac Address. A mac address is a unique identifier for that computer.

I hope that will help you out.  Good Luck! :)

It sounds to me like the router may be going bad. May I ask what brand of router you have purchased?

Also I agree with Dazon. Do you have any kind of Anti-virus/Anti-malware software set up on your computer? If not, your problems might be caused by hackers or Dos (Denial of Service) attacks.

Do you have wireless?  Are there certain times of the day it goes off?  When my router goes out, I unplug it and count to about 15 & then plug it back in.  If that doesn't work, then there might be a problem with the tier system or the system.  If the router is going bad it can cause problems, squirrels nibbling on the lines, etc.

There are lots of possibilities.  I have had a defective router before after getting it replaced.  I assume you have protection so you aren't being hacked or denial of service, etc.....
