Well, It sounds as if she did the right thing. Let us know what you find out when you do. Good luck!
Thank you for your thoughts! I am worried about this growth on my anus. You should be able to view the pic if you copy and paste it in your browser. I saw the PCP she isnt sure what it is, sending me to specialist but apt not till June 9 so I hate having to wait until then! I want whatever this is off me!
I am unable to view your photo, but you are describing sounds an awful lot like a skin tag, which would result from an anal fissure. When an anal fissure attempts to heal, extra skin can surround the fissure (which is a split or tear in the anus) and itch.
If the fissure is terribly painful or chronic (lasting longer than 6 weeks), it is best to see a Dr. ASAP. I say this from experience. I waited nearly 6 months with pains in that region, treating them as hemmroids with otc products. Finally, I swallowed my pride and went to a Dr. . I treated them, but still deal with them, and it has been nearly a year. Not fun. My Dr. did tell me that anal fissures are very common, and can be very painful-but 90% of the time can heal and be treated w/o surgery.
LAter I dealt with some other problems, and they do believe I have Crohn's.
However, in your case, if you are not experiencing other symptoms, I would not nesicarily assume you have Crohn's just because your aunt does. Any health concern merits a trip to you PCP-and if they can do nothing, they can pass you on to a specialist. I would think the other symptoms would be unrelated, but I would bring them up with your Dr., so s/he could at least be aware. If what you are dealing with is really painful or a nuisance, don't wait like I did. You may be able to stave off much grief that I have experienced.
Best wishes.
