What is the Future of Obama's agenda?

I have seen pundit after  pundit after talking head talking about their disappointment with Obama's speech.  All I hear is how is popularity among the American people has fallen dramatically, into the low 40 percentile.  So given that November elections are just around the corner, how do you think all this will affect legislators in Congress in regards to the legislation that the President wants passed.  Will Democrats fall in lock step behind him or run for cover?

Personally, I think the fact he has handled this Gulf disaster so ineptly is going to negate any political capitol he may have had.  I don't think the rest of his agenda is going to make it.  I personally don't believe that Democrats will be willing to sacrifice their gold mine Congressional job on the altar of Obama.

Do you think it will have any effect?

I liked Romney the last time around. If they were smart, he would be a possibility for sure. Okay, I am trying to quit smoking and have stayed clear of the political arena and it has helped, so back into hiding I go. lol

Hope to b a regular again soon.

ROFL!  I think you pretty much said it all magi!

And let us all remember that we could have had Senile McCain and Caribou Barbie! And as far as his speech? Well now I do think the man did what he said he was gonna do? BP is putting how many billions in escrow? Just a drop in the bucket for sure, but if we shut BP down too hard too fast, the only thing they will do is file bankruptcy, pick up their toys and leave.

I will admit, I'm a little disappointed in Obama. He is trying to be Mr.Nice guy to to many. Some one needs to tell him, you can't please all the people, all of the time. I'm very disappointed about the Whale thing,  and that Guantanamo hasn't been closed yet and that he was way to soft on the public option health care issue.
I don't care what party gets elected, as long as they can fix the problems and quickly. So if the Republicans can fix everything in less than 2 years, well then, God bless their little conservative hearts!

I'm also fairly certain the republicans will get the Nov.2010 votes., and that's fine, as long as they get some good things done. I just don't think that's gonna happen though. What kind of miracles do they have up their sleeves that will help the economy, unemployment, immigration issues, the oil spill, terrorism, health care, the deficit and everything else??????    Truthfully, I can't wait.  I look forward to watching the Republicans strip off their suits to reveal their angel wings and magical staffs. I can't wait to see everyone suddenly have jobs, no health problems, their foreclosed homes given back to them, all terrorists suddenly surrender, the deficit turned around and most of all, I can't wait to see all the Republicans go to the Gulf and swallow all the spilled oil.  Hallelujah, November can't come soon enough!

We can agree on one thing.  2012 is a long way away.  But if Obama doesn't quit spending money we don't have there won't be much of country left!!  We may be China West (or East, whichever way you want to look at it!).  If China calls our note.

This is the article I took my opinion on Bush's approval ratings from.  I was mistaken, it was when he left office that they were so low, so his reelection had nothing to do with it.  Do you think Obama's will hit this low?  Not starting a contest between Bush and Obama, just curious as to what you think.

I also am not certain of the source, but then again, I am not certain of any media source anymore.

I stand corrected.  Not the first time and I am sure it won't be the last..lol.  I still like him though.  And I still say never say never...2012 is a long way off.  But I do still agree that the house will go Republican in Nov.  And I still think much of the 2012 election will be dependent on what they do with it.

Keep in mind that when I comment on US politics, I am viewing it the same way you might an election in one of your alliance countries.  You may not have a vote, but have an opinion based on what you see, read and hear.  So it's different, and I understand that.  But I will say this...your politics are sure a whole lot more interesting then ours.  You know,  I could not tell you the name of our Prime Ministers wife (I would not recognize her if I tripped over her on the street..pathetic huh), what there religions is, or how many (if any) children they have.  I know absolutely nothing about them on a personal level.  Yours are so much more fascinating....I love it!!!!!

"Don't forget that Bush's approval rating was in the dumps at about this stage in his first term, and he took a second term."  This is not quite true.  His was over 50 per cent.  Try this link:http://www.gallup.com/poll/113641/despite-recent-lows-bush-approval-average-midrange.aspx

You might find this interesting as well.  Obama's ratings mirror Jimmy Carters  only term and Harry Trumann's last term.  http://www.gallup.com/poll/116677/Presidential-Approval-Ratings-Gallup-Historical-Statistics-Trends.aspx

I believe as does Margy that "the angry white men" revolt will come back..  (In case you don't remember that, that what the right wing backlash to Clinton was called in the midterm elections on 1996).  Obama is a one hit wonder.

Even though I don't necessarily have an immediate stake in things, I know I will be watching the Nov. elections closely.  I do think it will swing more to the conservative side.  And I think that what happens as a result of that will play a big part in determining the 2012 elections.  Don't forget that Bush's approval rating was in the dumps at about this stage in his first term, and he took a second term.  Mind you, I think it is only 1 wartime President that wasn't reelected.  And no, that does not mean I believe for a second he had anything to do with 911.  I never bought into that conspiracy theory.  So as much as I believe the Senate will go Republican in Nov., 2012 is still a long way off and much can happen between then and now.  As I said, I think he is pretty great, and the reality is we in Canada are always dramatically affected by the US and what they decide politically. Just the way it is.....

Yes I think we will take back the Senate in November and if he isnt out before, America will vote him out in 2012...It is the American way of life that is going down the pan ...I do believe he would change the Constitution or erase it completely , just my opinion .

For me the jury is still out on the Gulf disaster.  I go back and forth on his handling...some things I like, some I do not.  I do think Obama's agenda is in trouble though, but for different reasons then conservatives do.  I think he is trying to hard to meet everyone in the middle and keep everyone happy.  I think he needs to just do what he thinks he should and quit trying to appease.  Then let the cards fall where they may.  Many left wingers voted for him because of his promises on Health Care Reform.  He made a good start (at least in my opinion) but ticked off those looking for a public option.  In turn, he ticked off those on the right who still think his reform is too radical.  That is just an example.  So yes, I do think he is in trouble, but then again, I still think he was doomed from the beginning.....he was and is so different that I think he scares people (right and left) and I think many had their minds made up from the beginning......I just don't think he ever had a chance.  I still love him though, although I still hate his stance on whaling..lol.  So if I had a vote (which of course I don't), I know where it would go.
