Shots + passing out?

I gave my first shot to a patient today (as an intern) and i passed out. I have never had a fear of getting shots and i have watched other administer them too many times to count. Dentistry is my dream and i still want to pursue it, however I'm worried it will happen again, and a little frustrated. Has this happened to anyone you know? how can i help myself?

A number of medical students are said to pass out too.  That doesn't mean that they don't go on to become great doctors.

Stress and anxiety and possibly even not controlling your breathing could all be contributing factors.

Breathe, don't ruminate on the past unless it is to learn and talk to someone if you feel that this would help.  A supervisor could be a good person to speak too.  It is likely that you just need reassurance at this point.

If you continue passing out you may like to see your doctor.
Vaso-vagal attack is something that comes to mind.  ??

Sorry, can't help you there.  I can only guess that the first shop was very nerve racking and you just passed out from the anxiety.  As you give more, hopefully the nerves will go away and you'll be fine.
