Sore under tongue

I am just getting over a cold and during the cold I noticed an ulcer or cold sore ontop of my tongue for a few days.  Now when I look under my tongue I have what looks like a peice of shin hanging down it is sore and hangs down about 1/8 of an inch.  I have taken a picture for you to see.  http://www.allstatesservices.com/tongue.jpg

I do not think it is serious but have it checked out by an oral surgeon.

it does not look serious-- but it cant hurt to have an oral surgeon look at it. I dont think it;s related to your cold. I think it was always there and you just noticed it. If it is bothersome and oral surgoeon could probably excise it-- it looks like an epitheliaal extension-- kind of like a tissue tag.
