Upper bicuspid extraction

I had my upper bicuspid extracted on Monday, and I am curious at what point do you develop dry socket if you are and how long I have to wait to eat normal food again, drink through a straw and resume activities.  I am wanting to go water skiing this weekend and tubing.  I am so worried about disturbing the area that's all I think about, I do not want dry socket but I have smoked since I had this done.  When I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out many years ago I had no problems, I smoked and did other things because I was in no pain.  Any answers would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I would say it would be okay by the weekend.  Just be careful with the water skiing in case you end up in the water.  Spitting the water out may irritate the socket and dislodge the clot although by that time, it should be pretty well settled into the socket.

Hi Kriss

Its all about keeping the area clean. Rinse with warm water containing a teaspoon of salt as many time in the day as you can. Smoking is a no no and is usually the main culprit of dry socket. Try to knock cigarettes on the head for at least 48 hours. a soft diet is advised for 48 hours but you should be able to drink as normal. lay off alcohol for at least 24 hours.
Hope this helps and have a good trip.
