It depends on how extensive the chip is and how much damage or compromised tooth structure there was prior to the crown procedure.
I would discuss with your dentist and express your concerns. Its best to communicate with your doctor and discuss those issues. Sometimes it can be due to a misunderstanding.
There may have been some documents or an informed consent that was given that may explain the process and reasoning behind the procedure.
Thank you for the reply. The corner chip was about 1 mm x 1 mm.
1mm x 1mm sounds somewhat on the smaller side. Was there any other fracture in that area that might have extended from the chipped corner and into the remaining tooth structure?
There were no other problems with my tooth. I need to correct my self. The chip was 1.5mm x 1.5mm.
Was there any other restorative dental work done on it previously?
Yes. It was filled with a product that uses uv light to cure. I believe it is called a bond. That lasted about 8 years and fell off a few weeks ago on its own without trama.
Will this crown be as strong as my original tooth?
The crown should last longer than your previous "bonding" that was done.
