Bad Bedside manner

I am posting this under mental health because a recent trip that I took to the Fairview Medical Center at the University of Minnesota ER is disrupting MY mental health.  I had a UTI gone bad and after it worsened over the weekend, and medicine didn't work, I went to the ER on Sunday morning for 4 hours with my mom.  It didn't take that long, really, before I was able to see a doctor but i wish it would have if that would have meant that I could have seen a better one.  This guy was so rude and matter-of-fact.  HIS BEDSIDE MANNER LEFT MUCH TO BE DESIRED.  He didn't even ask if I wanted my mother to leave the room, and was so rude.  He ran every test possible on me below the belt and left me with no advice, gave me no opportunity to ask questions, just took the tests and left, expecting the nurse to pick up the pieces.  The Nurse, Melissa, was one of the nicest women I have ever met.  However, the doc left her in the dark too.  The Doc never even came back to tell me the results of my tests.  I had to ask for him from 4 different nurses that came into my room and tried to discharge me.  Each time I said that I wanted to speak with the doctor before I left (no ****!), and each time he never came.  Dr.Z (his first initial) should take a lesson from his nurse: Smile, don't be rude, and TALK to your scared patients.  I don't care if you're in the ER today, and not on your specialty wing, have a heart.

Phewww. That's all. Don't go to Fairview for compassion.

If you had an experience like this in the hospital then it sounds like some issues need to be addressed there. Every hospital has a complaint department. I would speak to them and explain things rationally. They can tell you how to proceed from there.
