I have been on & off valium for anxiety/muscle spasms/shakiness (had eegs, etc. still can,t figure out the hand/sometimes leg tremors-I have scoliosis & other spinal issues). I don't understand why my Dr's office wants to put me on klonopin or another anti-anxiety med, when the valium has always worked so well. I do not need to take it every day; it has been on the market for 1/2 a century (almost?), and I have found it very efffective, without a need for dosage increase (except during my divorce, and that was temporary),
So why after 15+ years is it such a bad medication? I have tried Busbar, klonopin, ativan, & various antidepressants, with awful side effects-from falling asleep-while standing!-to not being able to even leave the house due to confusion and still being anxious.
I have been in talk therapy, and do not have an addictive lifestyle-have chronic pain due to the previous mentioned spinal issues. So, what is so wrong with taking valium? And why all of a sudden?
Confused but informed.....(I had to look a lot of things up-not something I'd do for recreation!
You should be seeing a psychotherapist..these are all signs of being overwhelmed and in retreat from your life......
I think that those symptoms can be associated with emotional issues.
Talking to a family doctor could be a good place to start. Your doctor could also refer you to a psychiatrist for further evaluation.
I think talking to a psychotherapist may also be of benefit.
I would start with your doctor (or local hospital or mental health services if you feel extremely desperate).
I hope that helps a little. The doctor always responds to posts so watch for his response too.
