Paxil is one of the ssri's that has just been banned in England for young people. Our fda is studying it now, so you should follow that or ask your doctor about that.
Note, I am not a doctor but I have never heard of Paxil being used for ADD. My understanding is that it is a SSRI (increase seratonian (spelling?) in the brain.) Paxil would be used for depression and maybe anxiety disorders. I have read that clonidine is used for children with ADD. I think wellburin is sometimes used for ADD. I would encourage you to do some web research. There is a lot of research and information on ADD.
I was on it for 11 yrs. I'd like to know the answer too!
Only brain stimulants such as Ritalin and Dexedrine may be indicated for ADD child. Certain SSRIs that increase extracellular serotonin are indicated for co-existing conditions such as anxiety and depressive disorders. Not all SSRIs are suitable for children of 12.
