just diagnosed with hypothyroidism
My last year has been rough. counciling and serezone failed. Finally I was so low I had to look up to see hell. One last shot with a new DR. in the office. She started me on prozac and drew blood. Got back with me alarmed about my thyroid level. immediately started 100mcg levoxyl. I've lost 15 pounds in 10 days since starting prozac. I still feel like ****. Going to move out of the house (43m married 20 yrs 4 teenagers) Will life ever get normal or is my personality permanently changed.

Prozac may be associated with weight loss, but it seems imperative that you inform your treating physician immediately about your 15 pound weight loss. She may also want to review your thyroid status and medications. Cognitive-behavioral or interpersonal therapy may also be helpful, in combination with antidepressant medications, especially with dealing with the stressful changes that you are going through.

It may sometimes take up to 4 - 6 weeks to feel the full benefits of antidepressant medications such as Prozac.
