Lump on my armpit

Hi,

I'm an 18 year old female and just a few days ago, i disocvered this bump under my left armpit. it's reduced in size slightly since the other day. It's not too hard, but not too soft either, and has now started to go red.
A week before that, I was using a new deodrant which caused me irritation and the start of some spots. I don;t use it anymore, and the irritation has stopped, but the spots are still there.

it's causing me some pain

what do i do? :(

Hi,

Glad the post was of some help to you.

Your doctor would only be able to decide after a clinical examination whether an antibiotic course is required.

It was nice of you to respond back. Do keep us updated about how you are doing and let us know if you need any other information.

Regards.

Hi,

This may be caused by infection of the skin glands or hair follicle, also known as folliculitis or another condition - lymph node inflammation. They may need examination and tests before a final diagnosis is made.

Folliculitis- This is caused by infection in the duct of the hair or the oil glands which causes swelling, redness, pain and pus discharge.

After that a course of anti-biotics, oral and for local application may be prescribed.
Keep the area clean and hygienic.

Lymph node inflammation is caused by teh development of swelling and inflammation in a lymph node which has been infected from bacteria from another site and therefore leads to these symptoms as the cells of the body fight it out. It may also need examination and then treatment with antibiotics.

let me know if you may need any more help.
