Can Animal Fat in Soaps Effect The Skin?

I recently learned that my favorite soap (Soft Soap) has animal fat in it. Ew! Can animal fat in soaps effect the skin or body without knowing? I must know! Please only post answers or experiences, not comments like "Wow you need to be more educated etc.."' Tired of em! Thanks!

I'm not sure what type of animal fat your referring to, but there are soaps made of things like goats milk and they are VERY nourishing. As far as affecting the body anything that is absorbed through the skin has that possibility but the likely hood of it being anything more than a rash is rare. And that is only if you are allergic to the ingredients. If it is something that is in a manufactured product and not homemade then I think they have to be regulated and tested to not cause problems.

Try a cold process soap.  They are the best.  Far better than liquid soap.  I use to use liquid soap.  But then one day I tried cold process soap to treat myself.  After trying it for the first time this year, I will never ever use anything else.  And as for Dove - I would only use it to wash my car.  I can't believe I use to put it on my face.  Dove contains tallow which as you probably know is animal fat.  For the best quality cold process soap, look for ingredients such as:  extra virgin olive oil, shea, and organic palm oil.  Look for something "all natural" or close to all natural.  Look for something vegan.  In my opinion, putting animal fat on the skin makes no sense.  Listen to your skin - if the soap you are using leaves a residue on your skin - you know right away that it isn't good for you.  An excellent soap should allow your skin to breathe after using it and also be gentle.  Hope that helps.

Animal fat has been used in soap ever since people started making soap. As the poster above said, the only problem would be if you're allergic to it.
