Excruciating itch on the bottom of my scrotum

about a month and a half to two months ago I thought I had jock itch.  I also noticed I might have candida in the mouth.  Ultimately I assumed I had an internal yeast infection.  For the jock itch I have tried several different over the counter topical creams, none of them worked well.  Last week I tried hydrocortizone, thinking it might not be fungal, this made it much worse. I finally saw my doctor last week who told me to try Lamisil.  In the three days I've been on Lamisil, it has only been worse.  I barely got any sleep last night because I kept waking up in pain.  I've noticed there are white, scaly lesions in the affected area.  The only thing that has helped in anyway is gold bond medicated powder, but even that doesn't last long and has started to lose any soothing abilities.  I'm freaking out.. I just want this to go away.  I'm nervous about tonight because I know I won't be able to get any sleep.  Is there anything at all I can take to get rid of these symptoms???

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination, but it can be due to eczema. It is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites).
Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).

Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

If still the symptoms do not improve then pls get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
