Extreme Itching all over body w/NO rash, welts or hives.

I've recently been diagnosed with Urticaria. My doctor says I fall into the 99.9% of the people who have it without any signs. My itchiness has been getting progessively worse for the past few years. I'd say almost 3 yrs now. It's to the point where I can't even engage in intercourse with my partner, go shopping or even go out in the sun. I keep hearing and reading how Urticaria, usually has signs on the skin surface but I don't, except for the really bad itchy feeling. Sometimes I question whether or not I have something else because it's really bad and it feels like I have a sudden burning rush of nails/needles stabbing my skin and I can't even move but only twitch. It's like this on a daily basis with my skin, whenever my body temperatue goes up. I feel like my body's thermostat is broken and I'm constantly overheating. I've been taking Claritin and Benadryl but that doesn't seem to help at all. My doctor also gave me a prescription medicine called Atarax, which only makes me drowsy and doesn't help the itchy feeling. Any suggestions? Btw, I've taken blood tests to see if there is anything wrong but everything came out fine. =/

Just a thought for all of you with the chronic random severe itchiness... I had the same problem for over 10 years and went to numerous specialists yet no one could figure out what was wrong. In 2009 several other seemingly random symptoms began to appear... asthma I never had before, constant throat clearing that never happened before, digestive issues, all small things that no dr put together. I happened to see a neurologist when I went into the hospital for a blinding headache. Turned out that itching I'd been fighting with for a decade was a blatantly obvious symptom of multiple sclerosis. So if you still have no answers, see a neurologist. Symptoms may appear random and unrelated but 9 times out of 10 they are not. Most doctors just don't know what to look for or how to interpret th dr m.

What country do you live in?
Before the itching started had you traveled to another country?
Gone camping?

Ask doctor for cbc with differential and get a stool sample for worms or parasites.

Okay, lets be clear, I'm talking about all over body itchin. I am a 28 year old guy in more than perfect health and was in perfect health when this all began, 8 and a half years ago!, I've been tested for every std, I've seen no less than 7 doctors across two country's, changed my diet (which was healthy anyway), changed my living arrangements, lived at high altitude in the cold, and next to the sea, I've changed my soap(which I would advise everyone to do, ie avoid sls!) had many partners who have never contracted this wretched affliction, I've been treated for scabies twice (yes sorry googlegir76l but your wrong, very wrong) previously to this I had never been allergic to anything apart from one weird incident with  Brazil nut when I was probably about eight years old, the ONLY thing that works is antihistamines, and not all antihistamines work, about four or five years into this problem I started to develop rashes as well I changed from cetirizine to levo cetirizine, and problem solved, but the same problem happens with other anti histamines, I also now sometimes get swelling on my hands and/or feet. I am on my last life here, because the levo citerzine is now the only anti histamine that doesn't cause another adverse reaction, please someone, HELP!!! (and pls keep this thread for people who are genuinely suffering, THIS IS REAL!) oh, and  before I forget I also tried a bunch of natural remedies, tee tree oil, neem soap, etc, I've tried cutting out various things as well, including cigarettes and alcohol... HELP!!!

If you figure out what is wrong I would be very interested in knowing because my son is having the exact same problem. He was in the military and has since had is esophagus removed but he has been having the exact same problem with the itching all over his body. My daughter-in-law and their child have also had the same problem. In the last 4 months I have had it also. No one knows what it is. They say it's just uticaria  but I don't buy that since  it's  so wide spread. No one but myself in my house is afflicted but my son's entire family is.
