Foot vesicles

A few years ago I noticed a small blister/bump underneath my skin on the bottom of my left foot. The vesicle had a small dark dot on the top of it and itched really bad. Initially, I thought that I stepped on a piece of glass or was bitten by a spider. I went to a Dermatologist and was diagnosed with a water blister and told that the black dot was the blood vessel. Soon afterwards I noticed that I had more bumps that seemed to appear the more I itched my left foot. I was on different medications for several months, but the bumps were still there. Also, the medication dried my foot up and left is scaly. Finally, the Doctor admitted that she did not know what was wrong with my foot. I have the small bumps in the arch of my foot and along the side. My feet are not sweaty--they are actually more on the dry side. The right foot looks normal, only the left has issues. Although I no longer see the black dots and can't really see the bumps, I can feel them with my finger and at times they itch really bad. I try to keep my foot clean and use lotion for my dry foot which seems to help somewhat, but unfortunately the bumps are still under my skin. If I use fungal medications my foot gets drier and itches more. The bumps are about 1/4 of a centimeter in size. Please help. Thanks. Nina

Hi Nina, I so hope that you are still a part of this, or can respond. I've had the same frustration very small, grape-like clusters of vesicles on the bottom and sides of my left foot for years. They are about 2-3 millimeters in diameter & drain with popping by sharp pin. They worsen with scratching, and have no rhyme or reason for appearing then will go away at times, but not fully. It doesn't respond to any treatment, except possibly anti-fungal spray. It keeps coming back, even with steroids, creams, anti-fungal lotions, and TLC of foot. Please respond back if you have found a treatment for this or what it is. Matt Chandler MD

i would see a different dermatologist. worst case scenario they can biopsy one of the spots and get a definate answer. duct tape will be a horribly uncomfortable effort that will just irritate your feet in the mean time. sorry

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think I have "molluscum contagiosum". What I have isn't raised, it's in my skin and at times very itchy. The photos that I viewed showed raised bumps. Mine are small and hard. I initially thought I had warts, but the dermatologist said No and told me they were "water blisters" and claimed that they were associated with severe itching. (Of course, she later admitted that she didn't know what it was.) I was thinking of duct taping the bottom of my foot--I heard that was a military cure for warts; perhaps it'll work for whatever it is I have. Thanks again. Nina01
