Healing of post-surgical wound

Excessive healing duration post-surgical for successful removal of basal cell.  Been changing bandage twice daily after cleasing the wound and reapplying Vaseline over it.  One month after the surgery, the wound still appeared raw, found to be "over-healing", and was raised above the surrounding skin surface.  Silver Nitrate was then applied to flatten the wound.  Now, another three weeks since, the wound is still far from healing. Is continued covering with Vaseline still helpful of hindering at this point?  Would Alovera, etc. or simply exposing the wound to the air be more helpful in finally closing this wound, now almost 2 months since the surgery?

My dad recently had the same cancer removed from the top of his hand. He only had it covered until the drainage stopped, about 2 weeks. Then he left it open to air and applied vitamin e(he punctured a capsule and rubbed it in twice a day). It looked a little scaly for a while, but now, 3 months later, it's just a little pinker than the skin around. I hope this helps out and best wishes.

Thanks for your comment. Three months to heal seems excessive, as does my two months (and still going), inasmuch as the surgeon originally projected my complete healing with one month!  That's why I'm asking for advice as to how to expedite its completion.
