pinkish bump

i have this pink bump which has been on my arm for about the past 8 months now. It never had an opening, and it is very smooth, and very hard. I am scared that it is the "c" word.
It is causing discomfort a little. itching, it tingled once before also.

Hi

I understand that you are worried about this. Hard bumps on the extremities may be ganglion cysts (wrists and elbows are involved ) as well as lipomas. Lipomas are fatty tissues and they are more  doughy in consistency than hard lumps. This has been present for the past 8 months. In the absence of any rapid growth, nodularities, ulcerations and enlarged nodes or discolorations in other parts of the body, I would not be very worried. I do suggest though that you have this assessed by a dermatologist or internist to allay your fears. It is best to have a baseline assessment early on.
