Hives...could it be my bra?

I have the hives right where a fairly new bra fits.  I have had the bra for 2 months and have washed it three times.  This last time I wore it was the worse case of hives I have ever had.  It is a Bali Bra that has padding.  It was made in China.  I bought 2 at the same time (Have never had Bali bras before) and the other one has some padding, not as much and was made in Thailand.  I read in one of your blogs that Victoria Secret bras that were made in China gave women much the same problem.  What can I do about this?

Thank you for your response.  I did finally go to the doctor and it appeared to be the formaldehyde in the bra burning my skin.  I did get a cortizone and it helped clear it up.  Again, thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,
These can be due to contact dermatitis to the bra. First of all, change the bra and wear cotton ones. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.
For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

It definitely could be the bra. Clothes are shaped with formaldehyde and the Victoria Secret bras had too much in them. They were causing rashes and burns. I would either return the bras, write the company, and/or just throw them away. Other than that there isn't a whole lot you can do.

If your rash gets worse or doesn't go away after you stop using the bra go see a doctor.
