My husband has bad adult acne.

About a year ago my husband started developing adult acne. He's 26 years old. Since then it has just gotten worse and worse. It now covers his cheeks, most of his fore-head and down his neck and its starting to scar. It seems like we've tried everything! over the counter acne soaps, creams, lotions, pro-active, prescrisption medication, good hygene; washing his face alot. Sometimes it gets to the white head but some are just bumps. it looks, like irritated. Ive noticed now that he's been get very self conscious about it, like his self esteem is going down because he doesnt want to go in public and sometimes he says he doesnt feel attractive to me. I try to tell him he is! But I just dont know what else to do to help! Does anyone have any knowlege in this, any remedies, or ideas please? anything? It seems like we've just ran out of ideas. thanks!

Thankyou for your advise and comment!
Yeah, we've tried prescriptions from the family doctor but he hasnt been to a dermatologist yet, that may be a good idea.
That is interesting about hormonal imbalances! How would that be caused? it seems like at 26 years (and older) the hormonal stuff would be over, like that is mostly in your teens and yearly 20's maybe.
recently my husband had taken on a very hard work out/excersize routine for boxing. He's doing really well and he has really gotten in shape, physically. I wonder if the change in his mucles and body could have thone hormones off for acne? I dont know if that has any thing to do with that subject?
Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Acne after the age of 30 or more is referred to as Adult Acne. They occur due to hormonal imbalance at this age. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often. If the symptoms persist then please get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get topical antibiotics like Clindamycin prescribed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
