In the last two years I have experienced a weird skin condition on my chest.

It's a big reddish spot at the center of it, which gets very itchy. When I scratch it, small yellow skin flakes fall off. I tried many kinds of products but nothing worked and my dermatologist has no idea of what it could be. I could post a picture but I don't see the option to do it.

Photos can't be posted on the forum, since it's never a good idea to diagnosis from a photo.  Did the dermatologist run any tests on the spot?  Have you gone to another for a second opinion?  Did they give you any creams to try?

Well, it's still better than just the description. The dermatologist ran some tests but I live in a very rural town and the hospital's facilities are... limited. There are no other dermatologists in the area but I'm considering a trip to a big city to get a second opinion. Tried a variety of creams recommended by the 1st dermatologist (can't remember the label names, but they are used to treat skin infections), to no avail. To add some more data, the spot becomes redder after washing myself,. There is a very superficial scab, hence the skin flakes.
Also I should probably say that just prior to the spot's appearance I lived for one year in Brazil, where the sanitary conditions were not the best.
