Peeling spot of skin on upper lip

I have a spot in the center of my upper lip that constantly flakes and peels off. it is the size of a match head and has been flaking and peeling for as long as i can remember. I have a picture of myself at 10 years old and the spot can be seen in the picture, which was taken 35 years ago. Any ideas?

a dermatologist would probably take a biopsy or freeze this spot. it sounds like a form of keratosis possibly.

i suggest medical evaluation just in case

I was always told that this was from breastfeeding but now I'm not too sure..lol. Maybe you do the same thing with your mouth that would cause this( the way you drink, or touch your mouth) I'm not really sure, just a thought.
