Possible Basal Cell Carcinoma or Nodular Melanoma

Hello. I have had a lump on my hand for over 3 years. It is raised, shiny, and flesh colored. It started out as a sore place that would itch and bleed and then it turned into a completely round nodule. I had no trauma or injury at all. I have been reading about Basal Cell Carcinomas and Nodular Melanomas and I am very concerned. I am waiting to get an appointment with an Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to have it removed. I know you wouldn't be able to give me a definitive diagnosis on the internet, but if you could tell me what it sounds like it may be to calm my nerves, I would be very appreciative. Thank you!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Nodular melanoma is the most aggressive form of melanoma. It tends to grow more rapidly in thickness (penetrate the skin) than in diameter. It is less likely to be nodular melanoma but since it has been persistsing for such a long time, get it biopsied to confirm the diagnosis. It can be apyogenic granuloma which bleeds on touch.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
