Lichen Sclerosus on Penis - please advise

Hello All

My doc has told me I may have  Lichen Sclerosus on the shaft of my penis, & has referred me to a dermatologist...I am still waiting for my appointment.

I currently have no symptoms apart from penis discoloration

My GP sent me for a blood test & everything came back ok.

Can someone please help me understand the below questions:

1. Can Lichen Sclerosus spread across my body, like Vitiligo?
2. What is the risk of getting cancer frm Lichen Sclerosus on my penis?
3. What is the difference between Lichen Sclerosus & Vitiligo

Thank you for your advise & help

Rick

Well this is an older thread but I'll post what I know.  I am a 40 year old man who has been diagnosed with lichen sclerosis on the foreskin. I have read that the probability of this developing into cancer is about 5% or 1 in 20.  I did a lot of research on this condition and had to direct my dermatologist a bit on the best approach.  I was prescribed clobestrol, but this is only a treatment not a cure.  Protopic (tacrolimus) has made its way into several peer revue studies as making a lot of progress into actually curing this condition, but it takes between 5 and 12 months of twice daily treatment.  I am about 4 months into the treatment and I feel that progress is happening, but intend to keep with the protopic for ten months, as that is the length of time in a study where the problem did not have reoccurrences after a year follow up.  So, I use the steroid cream two or three days in a row about twice a month and apply the protopic twice a day. I also use tea tree and vitamin E cream, and occasionally use a high acidophiles yogurt topically (it keeps the surface bacteria balanced). I have also started treatment with a acupuncturist and TCM practitioner.  I have had rashes that I thought were jock itch for years but found no relief from over the counter or western doctors visits.  TCM understands this condition as "damp heat" and it has a method to address it and guess what; Its working. The herbal formula I'm using at a high dose is called Si Miao Wan.  This "damp heat" condition is an underlying contributor to the LS and other autoimmune problems like psorisis and eczama.  So I am approaching this from all angles and am confident I can beat this autoimmune issue while I'm still young.  Years of going to Doctors about the rashes and getting nowhere.  I think the herbs I've been directed towards are having the greatest effect but I"m getting acupuncture too.  Hope this helps somebody.
