Strange Red Marks on Face

Around Halloween I dressed up as a pilot. My roomate had found this pair of avaitor sunglasses, which apparently had been laying around where he worked for a while. I wore them as apart of my costume. A few days later, I noticed red marks on my face where the bottom rims of the glasses had made contact with my face. These marks did not go away. I showed my mother(a nurse for 34 years) over Thanksgiving, and she gave me some steroid creme, which made the red marks redder. I also tried antibacterial, and anti-fungal cremes, both made the marks redder. I still have them now! The marks do not itch or hurt, but have small red "veins" concentrating within the center on closer inspection. The longest one (the left side) has faded some, but the main part is still visible. It extends from the bridge of my nose, down my cheek. The right side is just a small blotch on my cheek. Do you know what this is, and what I can do to get rid of it?

Hi,

The symptoms and signs which you secribe indicate a possible case of Contact Dermatitis. This may be precipitated by various substances, in your case with spectacles whose origins and previous use and contacts were unclear.

You should see your dermatologist who on reaching a definite diagnosis can prescribe medication according to the lesion. Further, the skin on the face is different and any steroid cream may not be advisable.

Hope this helped. Let us know if there are any other queries and keep us posted on your health.

Best regards
