I have been suffering from skin rashes for last four years.mine is a case of DELAYED PRESSURE URTICARIA, which gets aggravated by stress.Class 2 ,antihistamines like ALLEGRA AND CETRIZENE, was my initial medication but from last one year I have been taking DYNOLAP-5,daily one tab, which is like 24 hours rash free state for me.I am still looking for the complete and effective cure.
Hello,
The medicines prescribed to you are one of the best ones. However if you are not relieved of your symptoms then the possibility of chronic urticaria needs to be ruled out. In most of the cases of chronic urticaria, the underlying pathology is idiopathic i.e it is not linked to any cause. It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom. Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases, and cancers of the rectum, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Hello,
Welcome to the dermographic club. Just like you the urticaria came into my life 5 months ago. Just like you I visited several dermatologists and even other specialist (hormone, internal diseases, STD/HIV..). Not one medical test, including many blood tests, showed anything specific. For the treatment of the symptoms I use 25 mg of Atarax daily (before sleep) and during the day 1 to 2 pills of either cetrizine (zyrtec), aerius, or rupatall. I have noticed that the Atarax and Rupatall work best for me since they remove the itchiness from my skin. I still get red flares and stripes but that does not bother me so much as it goed away after a while and my skin is not broken. Since the Atarax and the Rupatall also act as anxiety suppressant (Atarax is sedating, Rupatall is calming), I am starting to believe that in my case chronic stress over the years has triggered this condition. I was already allergic to grass pollen (hay fever) but only during the late sping season. So I am prone to allergies. And this condition is very alike to allergies. As you probably already know, 95% of causes are never resolved, so stress and allergy like factors are probable. And for sure, when I am more stressed out than usual, I have more hives and itchiness. When I am more relaxed, I could go without pills for a day or 2 (testing).
STRESS and ANXIETY play an important role in this condition.
I can't believe you don't have any relief from the medications. Clearly, anti-histamines should relieve you as they neutralize the excessive histamine release in your body.
My last testing resort will be an allergy expert, but I do not except much from that either. Proabably we will be one of those 95% of 'idiopathic' cases.
Prepare to start living with it, we have to, but I don understand your concerns. I know how it feels.
