There are small brwon color blister kind of rashes on her feet and legs, when ever she stands for long in heat she develops itching. The itching is very irritating... please advise on it. i would like to know what exctly it is and is it normal in this age. MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

Itchiness and brown discolorations may be due to dermatitis or a fungal infection. However, you have mentioned that your mom is in her fifties. If this is the case, the two previously mentioned differentials may still apply. However, we need to rule out vascular problems as well. If your mom is diabetic and with weight problems, I would suggest that her blood sugar levels be determined. Also, a duplex scan of peripheral blood vessels in the extremities and evaluation of her pulses may be necessary. If varicosities are present, then all the more that we need to rule out a vascular condition.

Aside from itchiness, does your mom complain of pain associated with walking or prolonged standing?
