Hi Mr. Mike
I am also facing the same problem but I’m not sure about whether it is the same as yours or something else. I am feeling embarrassment to check with doctor and I want to identify it. Can you tell me how I can identify it myself?
Thanks in advance.
My dermatologist prescribed Locoid Lipocream (hydrocortisone butyrate .1%) and it completely cleared up in 3 days.
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like nummular eczema. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.
For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription.
Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
OK, I couldn't take it anymore and went to the dermatologist. In less than 5 seconds he determined that it was............drumroll please............excema!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope, never had it before, but it does run in our family. I'm 40 years old and never had it before. Doc said that it is not uncommon for excema to reveal itself on the tip.
So, a word of caution to the people who diagnose via the internet and go to their general doctors for diagnoses outside of the expertise area. I have been in full fledged panic for the last month and it turns out to be nothing.
Thanks again PPeach, I appreciate your input but I am soooooooo glad I had it checked.
I'll tell you this, when I got the ringworm, it was actually from a mosquito bite that got infected. You also get it from other contact of people...unfortunately, you got it at the wrong spot :(
Ringworms are NOT STD'S, at all, so don't worry about that.
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it. I have no idea how the heck I got it, it's so nasty looking. I haven't had any sexual contact with anyone since I first noticed it.
Honestly, your doctor might be right :)
It definately looks like a ringworm. Make sure you DO NOT scratch it! Also make sure that you probably won't do anything sexual WITH anyone because ringworms are contagious. I suggest you don't touch it all, because the bacteria in your hands can prolong the ringworm, also, you will probably give the bacteria to someone else, which can give them the ringworm! I had a ringworm once on my arm, and it was there for a very long time. When it finally cured, it left a very big WHITE or discolored spot where the ringworm was, but I promise that spot will go away. Just make sure to put your Lamisil 2 x day for those 4 weeks, and you'll be good.
