Weird Spot

In 2009, I had a dermal fibrous hisitiocytoma removed from my right arm. It started as a brown dot, and grew in to a lump that was about half and inch, and brown-purple in color, like a bruise. It was benign, but I was told to watch my skin for anything weird going on. The tumor has only a 30% chance of recurrence. The doctor said to watch sun exposure, which I did.

Now, I've noticed a brown spot next to my ear, under the hair line, on the right side. It's about the size of a pencil eraser and dark brown. One part is kind of round-ish, and the other part looks sort of lumpy, like a paint splatter. It's a little raised and doesn't hurt.

I would like to know what it could be and if I should see a doctor?

Thanks so much :) I'm glad you're being honest and not sugar-coating things, I really do appriciate it. The histiocytoma can (sadly) become skin cancer or make a parson suseptable to it. I'll talk to my doctor and let you know how things go.

You should see your doctor who can best advise.  Something like this needs to be ruled out that it isn't an atypical mole or skin cancer .. Not to scare you, but this could be totally different than your other issue and needs new treatment.

Please let us know what your doctor says ... and/or visit our Skin Cancer community, too.  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Skin-Cancer/show/290
