What is causing my angioedema

I moved to North Carolina in 2009 and began getting hives. They lasted for months and I decided to go to an allergist. I had blood work and tests done and they diagnosed me with Angioedema. They said the cause was unknown. That can not be true as I have never had it before and don't want it now. I need to know what I can do to find an answer? Benedryl does nothing, the meds they kept trying made me sleep all day and the hives came right back, prednisone made it go away til it wore off. I get terrible acid reflux and stomach pain when i get them, please give me some advise on what to do? My family has nerve issues and terrible anxiety which isn't helping the situation!
