bump on my head after all these years

I have this bump not very big maybe nickel size on the top side of my head.  I have had it for at least 10 years maybe a little longer.  I don't know why all of a sudden it has bothered me.  It doesn't hurt and my husband can't really see anything.  I can feel it and it's under the skin.  Do you think it could be a sebaceous cyst.  I have read about them and I thought those you can see.  I don't know what do you think?  I just hate to go to the doctor because I don't have insurance.

Hey, I just posted a simliar question a few minutes about about bumps on my head. They're relatively small, and also under the scalp like you described. I also did research many times and through a discussion with my mother (who also has them) learned that they're Pilar Cysts, which are genetic. I've had one for years as well, and new ones that recently emerged which are thankfully very small. If it feels kind of slightly gummy but hard at the same time, and it's a round bump directly underneath the scalp than that's probably what it is (or some other type of cyst but I know that Pilar cysts always occur under the scalp).
I want to get mine removed sooo bad but I don't have insurance either :( so I can't go see an dermatologist and deal with the problem until I get some insurance.

Thanks I will check that out.  Mine doesn't feel gummy, but you know I have had these little red moles called cherry angiomas, completly harmless.  They are red little bumps and are gummy to the feel.  I had one on the top of my head when I was a teenager and didn't get it removed until I was in my mid twenties.  It was about the size of a pencil eraser.  It was on top of the scalp though.  This bump I have is underneath.  It's not very round and big.  It's next to a dent I have that recently happened when I hit the back of my head on the corner shelf, ouch that hurt like a sob.  Luckily I haven't had any complications other than a dent that I feel and I hate it.  But yeah... it stinks to not have insurance.  Make sure you get it then go to the doctor.  If you go before, anything will be pre-existing and the insurance wont cover it unless the insurance is through the employer.
