can someone help me please?!

Umm I have situation with my face and I would like some advice. I had previously waxed my upper lip and i probably didn't clean it properly and I got a few buttons on the sides of my mouth, about 2 on the left and like 5 on the other and I didn't like it. I heard of toothpaste helping buttons so I applied like 5 layers a night. It didn't discolor or anything but I also didn't work. To then I thought maybe it just needs some more. So I keeper applying the toothpaste regular in hopes of getting rid on my buttons. I noticed it was starting to get dark around the area and I think I ignored that because the buttons were finally gone but now the skin is horribly black . Can someone tell me what to do to return my skin to its origins colour?
