dermatitis

Seems I get irritant dermatitis on my scrotum, skin is red dry and flakes.  My dermatologist and I came to the conclusion that it coincides with my playing hockey.  I suppose the irritant is my own sweat and then the friction from the cup.

My derm never gave me any suggestions on how to prevent it, and she has moved to another city.

My question is: Does anyone know of measures I can take to prevent this from happeneing?

I am almost to the point where I don't won't to wear my cup, but the thought of taking a hockey puck to the groin brings me back to my senses.

Anyone who reads this and listens to what I say "read my other dermatology post for much more" and then finds they too have ACD needs to come to post here to me about how you were told like this guy or something else by doctors anf they were wrong and I was right. This will convince others to listen to me so I can help them! You should pass it forward in this way if this helps you!

This thread needs to be closed now so others don't use it and post their own post where others will see it.

I rest my case!
3 down and thousands to go!

Because of a few reasons. One is that so many times they treat people for fungus and prescribe something for the break out too. Antihistamine. And ointments. So the ointment shields the penis from polyester, the antihistamine takes care of much of the allergic reaction to the polyester, and thus all these years they thought that it is almost always fungus and rash because of it. Seeing that the treatment is perfect for ACD as well. Many times it is a one time reaction or takes years to break out again. So they think it was fungus and the treatment killed it. Or it comes back again and again! And they wonder why this clean person gets persistant infections! And to top this off! They say to wear loose cotton clothing "to be easier on the rash" And thus no more allergic reaction. A huge mistake is what happened here. I have this theory going in the BMJ journal of medicine however. This will be fixed. There are hundreds of posts here with this issue ion the groin alone! And I had to deal with them all so they could get help once and for all dude!
So anyhoo, when doctors are taught about this inflammation there, they are told almost always it is fungal. Because that tratment has worked for years and years. They still don't know it was wrong all along! I feel pretty proud that I am the only one to think of all this and figure it all out actually. Gonna make some cash for it from the journal writing. And maybe a Nobel prize. Who knows.
Problem is, this is tough. No one wants to believe I know and doctors are wrong. So they suffer. And no one want to accept thy are allergic to polyester, and or synthetics, for they are everywhere and this is a hard thing to accept! So my quest gets tough. And people tell me I am a fool. Or ignorant while I try and help them. But I just keep on truckin brother!

I saw your other post with the link to the photos of contact dermatitis.  I'm no expert but that is exactly what it looks like.  Why do we even bother paying Dr.'s.  My derm said she tought it coincided with my hockey playing and suggested better hygiene and regularly washing my jock.  never did she say anything about an allergy.

You know, I thought this was it. So much so that I went to the cup being it, thinking maybe the put some polyester mix. But was surprised they would do this for a cup for sweating reasons. I see now you had underwear inside.  Dude you are going to be all set now.
Please come back and conclude for sure this was it. Others need to see and be aware this does happen. There are 50-100 people same problem with groin area. And all think it is as doc says, fungi or eczema. So you can help others. Pass it forward please in this way!
Thanks
Tony

Cling free sheets for the drier get re-used by some people. They are 100% polyester and after a cople uses they shed fibers all through your cloths. My ex did this, and I had bad issues and had to do my clothes seperate.

Thanks for all comments so fast.

I can't wait to try this the polyester thing...I'm not going to tuck some polyester in my shorts but I am getting some all cotton briefs.  I had thought that since I wear my underwear under my jock there was a barrier.  Turns out all my underwear is 50% polyester.  I have had problems in that area for years, dr's and derm's have suggested I change laundry detergent and actually elimanting fabric softener has helped but never did anyone suggest that it might be the material itself.

You are exactly right. And you know why I think they hurry and don't use their brain?
Because a dermatologist is a specialist, and they make more money than a regular doctor, while it is the easiest specialist doctor college to pass! So it happens to attract more less intelligent people who are lazy, and want to make a lot of money! I mean if I wanted to be a specialist and wasn't real smart, I would be a dermatologist.
All you have to do is say it could be this or it could be that and prescribe enough to cover both or all three things. Heck, I could smoke dope all through college and stay up late every night partying, and still pass the exams! I never went to college and know more than this guy. You know what he is doing here? I studied his posts too. And you know when he starts out not sure? it is always worded exactly the same. Comma's and everything. I think he is copy and pasting a handful of statements, and does this for free to be a big deal, because he was a nerd in school and now he feels important. Doing this to feel important is okay. But for only that reason, when you can't even take the time to ask a question once in a while. Well, I think he did a couple times. Because he wasn't sure which one to copy and paste that time. And as soon as he does, that is it. he pastes the reply and is done with that post. And you know what is worse? This guy hurried this person who is afraid he may have an STD and I am sure he wants to know badly. Only to go answer a question on hair loss! I am not kidding. And go look at that post. right under this one for now. Wait let me grab it. And this will be a generic answer to his very original question.

I wouldn't doubt it if you take his whole answer and google it in " " the whole thing is on a skin site, and he is pasting from there. haha

The doctors on here have the same comment on every case. When you go to a website on eczema it says about 10% of adults are affected, most had it their entire life. When you look at the responses here you would think 90% of the population has severe eczema.
I went to six dermatologist before I found one that would actually use there brain.

Contact dermatitis is a reaction from a spilled chemical on the skin! It is an entirely different thing than Allergic contact dermatitis which is a delayed reaction from contact with an allergen, like polyester and such.
So if you are looking in your notes and/or doing what should be done for contact dermatitis, you are giving the wrong instructions!
I read your posts and you do this for years here. Do you ever read my posts? I been telling you this.
You need to look up ACD and forget about CD for things like this. You say CD for groin redness all the time. Do you think all these people spill harsh chemicals on their crotch and then forget about that and come here wondering what might be wrong?
You are confusing Allergic contact dermatitis with Just contact dermatitis.
They are not the same thing. You been recommending the wrong treatment for 100's of people for years now. It is time you know this. Sorry but I know Allergic contact dermatitis inside and out. More about it than anyone here. For I studied it for years, and have this myself. I have specialized in this only. Holy crapola doc. you have to change this.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The symptoms are suggestive of sweat dermatitis or contact dermatitis. Avoid coarse clothing and wear 100% cotton fabric against your skin and clothing that is free of moisture, dried sweat, chemicals, dirt and other debris.

Also apply calamine lotion and some mild moisturizer on the skin that has already chafed. Application of a mild steroid cream also helps. If the symptoms are severe, then a dermatologist will be the best person to consult. Seborrheic dermatitis has to be ruled out. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

You may be becoming sensitive to your cup material if it is not all  cotton.
Many people developing a sensitivity to polyester in your most sensitive area. If so, a small percent of polyester is in the cup, or the plastic. But people allergic to plastic are also allergic to polyester. So if you want to find out quickly if this is the problem "and these symptoms do point to that but also other things" then use some 100% polyester to test yourself. For 100% will show quick itching and/or redness quickly if this is the case. Check your pillow tag. It should say 100% polyester filled. Cut a small hole in the end and pull out a big wad of it. Shove this in your underwear and make sure it touches your penis head. And if you are allergic, you will know very soon my friend. Don't leave it there longer than it you have to before it starts itching bad enough you know. Because even though the itch comes quickly, the other effects like you have already are delayed. So if you leave it there too long, your penis is going to be inflamed 2-3 hours later. You might feel a slight itch at first for it is not smooth on skin. So wait a bit for the real itch. This is the quickest thing to do first and easiest thing to rule out. However, I have a feeling this is a reaction to the cup.
And if it is, you can tear off the cup cloth and put all cotton on it. Thus your problem solved.
Let me know how it goes. And I will skip to the next possible thing it could be.
I will be here all night!
And can get another post in tonight for you if you do this when you read this, and reply.
Okay?
