itchy scrotum

im 16 and unfortunatly i have more hair than most kids my age all over my body. when i was 15 my scrotum and surrounding area started to itch. i have more than usual pubic hair and i think the hair is making me itch. ive tried to trim the hair and it just makes it more itchy. i also have dry skin as well and i dont know if that has anything to do with it.

what should i do about the hair? how could i relieve the itch if it is due to lots of hair

Hi,
It could be both due to the dry skin as well as the pubic hair which could be the cause for the itching.

Dry skin will have depleted moisture levels, this with exposure to cold temperatures and dry climates can  lead to fine cracking and scaling of the skin. This causes the itching.
Also the pubic hair is more coarse when compared to the body hair, this could irritate the skin.

You can apply moisturizers and oil based creams to soften the skin. If it is associated with a visible rash in the area then it could be a fungal infection and would require anti-fungal creams to be applied on it.
