Hives Question

I'm a 21-year-old female.  Here's my problem.  Every other Wednesday, I stay with my boyfriend.  Within the first night of staying there each time, I have hives on the inner parts of my arms, starting faint, getting progressively worse, and they fade within a couple of days of getting back home.  No, he doesn't have animals.  Could it be the detergent his blankets were washed in? If not, any other suggestions? It's pretty annoying... I have numular excema, and the hives cause it to flare up once they start getting bad... it (the excema) especially flares up around my eyes, which is annoying, and itchy and painful of course.
Please, help? What could the cause be, and other than Claritan, which I already know of, what can I do for relief?
Thanks
-Sere

Can ANYONE tell me how long it takes for a RX medication ( night time blood pressure pill) to be flushed out of the body. I haven't taken it for 4 nights now, but I stil get an allergic reaction to it (hives) that wakes me up in the middle of the night. During the day it goes away but reappears and itches after being in bed for about 4 hours. I can't think of anything else it could be...thank you

Unfortunately, it could be many things, from the detergent that's used to food that you eat there, furniture, freshly painted walls (they emit VOCs), etc.  For some helpfyl hints around eczema, please take a look at http://www.savemyhealth.com/Health/Eczema/tabid/79/Default.aspx.

You could very well have an allergy to his laundry detergent.  I wouldn't just take Benedryl, although that will help with your symptoms.  You should have him switch to a laundry detergent that has no dyes or perfumes and see if that helps the problem. If it doesn't you could be allergic to something else.  I developed an allergy to laundry detergent myself  a few years ago.  I miss the "clean clothes" smell but not the horrible itching and redness!  That's why I wouldn't just take anti-histamines, I would try to figure out what you are allergic too get rid of it!  You will be so much happier!   Good Luck!
