penile pigmentation

I have dark pigmentation on my penis, it developed over 5 yrs ago and since the it has spread, it is mostly on the skin and very close to the base of my gland.  Now i also have it in the opening of my pee hole.  when this began to develope i saw a specialist and he said it was just that, "pigmentation".  but i am not satisfied with that answer.  it does not hurt or causes any disconfort, but it is very anoying to see it there, since is not common for men to have this type of pigmentation for no logical reason in such a place.  Specially when it never sees the sun.  hahaha   any idea?

Thank you

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough, but it can be due to hyperpigmentation of the skin as your doctor has told. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.

Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them.

Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
