rash help

i have a weird rash on my hands, its red, and kind of scaly, and has not been going away with treatment.  it is on both hands, but the redness disappears when i put my hands above my head.  i dont know then if this is a rash or just blood flow underneath the skin.  would the hiv rash disappear when over my head?  does the rash blanch? how long does the rash last for?  my dermatologist told me that the rash does not disappear, while i have been reading that it only last for 2 weeks.  so much conflicitng information out there.

can someone please let me know, i have been driving myself crazy.

oh, the rash has lasted for about 5 months, and i got tested at 4.5 and they said it was negative.  i just keep seeing this rash on my hands and it makes me nervous.  they gave me medication/creme for it but doesn't seem to be ehelping.  the fact that it is not going away makes me nervous

Your first post contains the answer, you would not expect HIV rash to disappear on raising it over your head, and would not last for months with out invoking an antibody response. If you are badly worried get your self tested and it should be the right time too.A palmar rash that disappears with gravity is due to mechanics of blood flow controlled by sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves which again have to do with our mind too.An anxiety state could be a too enough reason.

thank you

there is still a bit of scaly skin on the top of my hands.  but like i said, it only gets red and i don't know if its blood rushing to my hands or what, becaue the redness disappears when its above my head.

can you be certain that this does not mean that it is an HIV rash?

what is your knowledge/base to say that its not HIV related, but something else.

and if it is what you said it would be, would there be any other symptoms, and would it be dangerous or something i should get checked out, or just something i have to live with?

thanks again

Surely not related to HIV but related to cutaneous blood supply, more of a physical nature.
