red eyelids

My mother's (age 78) eyelid rims - area closet to eye are red (an ongoing condition). They don't seem to itch or be sore.  Should we be concerned?  What can be done to lessen the redness?  She does sleep / nap a lot; could this be the reason?  Thank you for your attention to this.

I do not infer anything more than a mild 'Asteatotic eczema' (relating to old age) .Application of coconut oil should be fine(not in to the eye but outer skin). Do consult your doc.

Thanks.  Took me awhile to discover your answer :(  (I thot the site would alert me to a response).  Also, I didn't remember I posted in the dermatology area; and first experience with the website, manuvering is still slow.
