Hey girl, it looks like an allergy, but it couldn't be to your friend's dog since you have your own pup. Have you switched laundry soaps or lotions?  Try products for sensitive skin. You poor baby! I feel for you sister. I hope this helps.
Oh, and make sure you didn't have contact with a poisonous plant like poison sumac, poison ivy, or poison oak. Go to poisonivy.aesir.com to identify any dangerous plants you may have had contact with. Use Caladryl Clear lotion to soothe the itching and pain. You'll be in my prayers.

Can anyone help - I have a raised, sore, itchy rash around the front of my neck. Dr said it is a skin infection and so on antibiotics, but each night my eyes swell, my lips are sore and my neck drives me mad with being so itchy.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The symptoms are suggestive of hives or urticaria. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes.

The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods. You can give non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine. Sedating antihistamines such as Benadryl is used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms but they are available under prescription.
You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
