Hi

I had surgury on my elbow in the weeks that followed I visited a local clinic because the surgery site became infected. I had multiple boils at the site that had to be repeatedly drained. They did a lab test and found the staff infection. During my last visit to the clinic where I was being treated the PA was examining the site a suture appeared when he pressed down. When the PA drew on the sting it was clear that it was too deep. I had to have a second surgury. My arm doesn't work as well now as it did. Im told that it may be because of radial nerve damage. Is this possible? So staph infections only do damage in the skin??

Thanks!

Hi

I do not think so since a staphylococcal infection usually affects the skin and in cases wherein the infection follows surgery , it is the skin or the surgical site which is affected. As for nerve damage, viral infections wherein the organisms usually stay dormant within the nerve, may more likely cause nerve related symptoms. Nerve damage occurs due to lack of blood supply which may be secondary to a blood clot, inflammation or spasms caused by an infection or vascular problems eg stroke.

Have you been diagnosed with a Staphylococcal infection?

What symptoms do you have?
