really??? I didnt know that wonder y u know so much bout diabeties...kk i will do that
You might want to test more often at first so you can use it to see how different foods affect you two hours after eating. That way you can start to choose your diet. After you do that, less often just to make sure it is still stable.
If you send me a private message I'll give you a couple websites where there are a lot more people with pre-diabetes that you can talk to. (I'm not allowed to post those here). I'm a Type 1 which is very different.
Yea im trying not to freak out im just going to change my lifestyle and get a glucose monior and check it once a week....do u thnk once a week is good or should I do more??? I had diabites wen i was pregant and this is y im going 2b very cautious.....i know i do lifestyle changes and excerise il b kk ......do u know people wit pre-Diabeties and they were fine?? I had u can reverse it and b normal again
Sounds like your doctor is trying to keep you from worrying. I prefer to have information myself, not just reassurance. You might have to explain this to the doctor and ask her to explain why the numbers say you have prediabetes and she is saying you don't. I would either get another doctor who will give you correct information, or stay with this one but go ahead and educate myself completely. You can buy a meter without a prescription. But the strips are fairly expensive if they are not covered on insurance. My suggestion is to find a middle ground with all of this. Use the prediabetes as a wake-up call to make some changes, but don't freak out over it.
I saw my doctor today and she said that I dont have prediabites everythng is normal but i dont understand cuz the readings i gave u it was prediabites im just freaking out cuz I dont know Y my doctor is telling me this i told her i want a monitor at home she said i dont need it
Many people remain in the prediabetic phase and never progress to diabetes. That is the goal. If you have good insurance you might ask your doctor to refer you to a dietician or diabetic educator who can help you find a good diet for you. There are people who have totally reversed diabetes but it is usually people who are extremely overweight and lose the weight Yes, keep us posted!
Thank u so much Il keep u posted, another ???? Can prediabeties go away or stay wit me for life??? meaning I eat good and excercise everythng will go back to normal......
Some doctors don't take pre-diabetes seriously; you are fine, you just want to stay that way as long as possible, right? Google diabetes and diet and you will find a lot of information. But basically you want to eliminate sugar from your diet, that is the worst for blood glucose. You want to reduce the amount of carbs you eat. Carbs are what raises blood sugar. A lot of carbs are in foods like bread, cereal, pasta, rice and potatoes, so you want to reduce how much you eat of those things. If you get a meter to test your blood sugar, you can see how different foods and portions affect you. We are all different so nobody can tell you exactly what you can eat. Eat something you like and then test two hours after eating. Your blood sugar needs to be under 140. 120 is even better! If it is over 140 then you know that item needs to be eliminated or the portion reduced. I know it is overwhelming at first, but you can take control of this thing!
Thank u ur so helpful im just upset cuz my doctor told me dont worry bout it im fine and i had excellent readings ......do u know the foods i can eat and avoid?? dont know wat 2 do
Pre-diabetes is a condition that exists when a person's blood sugar has risen to above normal levels but is not yet at the level that is considered diabetic. There are exact numbers that determine these definitions. For fasting blood sugar, below 100 is normal, 100-125 prediabetic and 126 and up diabetic. For A1C below 5.6 is normal, 5.7-6.4 is considered pre-diabetic and 6.5 and over is diabetic.
When i say you are "over the line" I mean the numbers you report put you just into the category of pre-diabetes. No, it does not mean you have diabetes. It means you are at risk of progressing to being a full-blown diabetic and need to change certain things in your life such as weight, exercise and diet.
There is no point to worrying; even if you had diabetes, it is a condition that can be managed. What you should do as a pre-diabetic is make some changes in your life to prevent it from progressing. It is an opportunity, some people don't even know they are pre-diabetic.
wat do u mean im over the line???
Is prediabetes mean im a diabetic??? I never had this b4 I do google but it tells me all different thngs,
I just looked it up; 5.7 is the cutoff for pre-diabetes, so again, you are just over the line.
Anything from 100-125 fasting is considered pre-diabetes. So you are just over the line. I'm not sure about the A1C cutoff, but I'm sure you can google it. Being pre-diabetic is, I know, scary, but it is also a wake-up call. If you have pre-diabetes than it is an opportunity to do what you need to do to keep those numbers from progressing: Lose weight if you are overweight, exercise regularly and change your diet to a more diabetes friendly diet. There is lots of info online about what that entails but basically you need to eliminate sugar and reduce carbs in your diet, while increasing healthy vegies and protein.
