AC 1

daddio53External User
My AC 1 values have been just slightly above the "normal" values for 2 lab tests in a row.Should I be concerned that I possibly have diabetes? When I say barely above normal, I'mtalking 5-10 points over the top of the "normal" value.

I have been just above before and I started walking/running and i reverced it. It took a while though. I dropped mine down from a 7. To a 5.8 here recently, but once again itis from weight loss. Honestly, I feel like your weight has the most to do with.

Good morning,

What are your actual readings?

Truly normal Hba1c is < 5.0
Prediabetic is up to about 5.7 (though I really think there is no such thing as prediabetic, you either have normal blood sugars or you do not - like being pregnant).

However, if you are in the 'prediabetic' range, there is a good chance that with diet and exercise and normalizing weight, and maybe medications your blood sugars can be returned to normal range / delay onset of diabetes.

I like to think that having slightly high sugars is your advance warning and you still have time to act (NOW).
