Numb fingers

I have fingers on both hands that are peeling. They started with tiny blisters under the skin. Then they brake thru the skin and peel. It gets very sore, It goes all over the finger tip and then under the nail. The finger gets calloused and then I can't feel anything on the tip. I am type 2 diabetic. Should I be worried about this?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Dry skin is the commonest cause of skin peeling. Fungal and bacterial infection is another. It can even be due to eczema and dermatitis. Peeling can also be due to an allergic reaction to a soap, talcum powder, lotion, oil, condom, etc. So stop using these one by one to see if the skin improves. Also, since you have diabetes, yes, you should be worried as this can be due to diabetic neuropathy. Also infections, allergic reactions, dermatitis etc persist in individuals with diabetes. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
