Ihave high b.p. 156/80 after taking a 240mg verapamil tab.daily. I have type-2 diabetes also. my dr. has increased the verapamil dose twice a day. He says my bp should be in a range of 110  to120/80 because I am diabetic.
what is your opinion about this approach to bp. I am 82 yrs old healthy man with low thyroid.

After, huh? Verapamil is Rx'd to lower blood pressure, not raise it. Speak with your doctor if it is. And, yes, 110-120/80 is great.

Your doctor is absolutely correct.  Your diabetes is not helping your kidneys and to have high blood pressure along with this, your kidneys are going to suffer.  Keeping your BP within a healthy range benefits you in so many ways.  I hope you are on medication for the thyroid problem. Great job on being so healthy at your age, I wish you continued good health!  Take care.
