Hi!
You might have what is called the "Dawn effect" or Dawn Syndrome. I read somewhere that there are several things that you can do. My brother has this, as well. 1) If you are eating your dinner later than usual, then change to eat no than than 7 pm. 2) If you are having a high fat bedtime snack, change what type of food that you are eating that will still give you both carbs and protein. 3) Set your alarm clock for 3 am, check your sugar, and write it down in a log to discuss with your doctor. Only your doctor can really determine what is going on with your blood glucose, but it helps to have already taken the above steps.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
Great CZaralexis! Even more good news is that since I started my low carb and protein before bed snacks I've been waking up to a fasting blood consistently between 6.1 and 6.6 the last three days by just increasing my teaspoon of all natural peanut butter to 1 tablespoon and adding 2 more celery sticks.
That's encouraging news, Francal.
I may try that.
I was waking up to a 7.9 - 8 fasting blood and I read somewhere that you may need a small snack before bed to wake up with lower sugars. Like a teaspoon of all natural peanut butter on a celery stick. I tried this yesterday night at 11pm before bed and my sugar was 7.0 when I woke up! Yay
Thanks. My metaformin was upped yesterday, so hopefully that will help.
Any advice for lowering these morning numbers, or is it just that Dawn effect and that's that?
My waking up/fasting numbers are between 140 and 155.
I read that these numbers should be between 70 and 130.
what is "My numbers are high"?
90? 200? 400?
