Thanks Sally. Things are on an upswing. I simply got complacent with my routine. I've done it one other time with the same results.... DUH! Insulin is something that I am probably going to have to try and I know its not a death sentence. I'm just trying to stave it off as long as I can without doing any damage.
Brice, sorry to hear you and your lovely lady have had a hard few months. Glad to see you here. You do know what works so keep it up and get back on track. It is worth it to be healthy and free of complications.
Weve discussed insulin. This appears to be an isolated case. My A1c is normally between 5.8 and 6.1 and I a can even better that with my regular exercise routine.
Its been a rough 8 months on a personal basis. Lost my mother, my sister in law and the wife has suffered a few additional losses. We both were thrown off our routines.
I know what works for me. I managed to lose 60 lbs in a period right after my diagnosis and managed to keep that off. For about 10 years I was only "diet/exercise" controlled. An additional 5 years or so down the road and I take metformin and when I stick to my program, everything measures out.
the past is the past. All you can do is live day by day and learn enough that you make better decisions.
If you Hba1c is 8 and you don't manage to get it down to the low 6 or 5 using lifestyle, please do consider insulin. I know I am pushing insulin, but on all the forums I am on, typically people regret not getting on insulin sooner. The thing is that insulin works 100% of the time if one knows how to use it. There is no more hoping and praying - you have the tools.
Combined with lifestyle measures it is really a killer (I mean good!).
Welcome to you as well! This should be fun and helpful at the same time. This stuff keeps me motivated and I need it after my last doctors visit... sheesh!
Hi Brice. Welcome. Look forward to working with you.
Thank you very much diabetes86!
