i am 18 years old in my dad lost both of his legs to diabetes i dont know what type but i wanna know if i could suffer from diabetes in the future?
Knowledge is power when it comes to our health! You may be pre-disposed to diabetes but with the proper diet, and exercise you may be able to keep it at bay. You may want to consult with a geneticist about this and go from there.
Call your family doctor and ask if he/she can run a 'diabetes genetics tes'. If he/she is unsure about the test or isn't equipped to do so ask to be referred to an Endocrinologist [a diabetes specialist]. This test will reveal if you inherited your father's diabetes gene. While there, get an A1c test to see where you currently stand. Good luck.
