Three basic principles of t2 diabetes control and management are:
1. Avoiding white foods; foods made with white flour [breads, crackers, etc], pasta, starches such as potatoes and white rice. Instead eat whole grains, vegies, fish, poultry and lean meats. Avoid high carbohydrate foods as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Read all nutrition labels carefully. Sugars listed under carbohydrates are presented in grams. Every 7 grams equals a heaping Tablespoon of sugar.
2. Maintain normal body. If overweight lose the excess fat.
3. Exercise 30-60 minutes daily. Walking is a good way to lower blood sugars.
