There are digestive enzymes such as Creon, Pancrelipase, Ultrase and Viokase which can only be subscribed by a medical doctor. These enzymes contain highly concentrated quantities of lipase, amylase and protease and are designed to aid people with chronic pancreatitis and other digestive problems which cause many of the symptoms you are complaining about. You can find digestive enzymes over the counter which contain smaller quantities of these digestive enzyme components and other natural herbal medications at most large pharmacy chains and all health food stores. Read the labels carefully to determine what application would apply in the product to aid your particular problems.
If you have been advised to take digestive enzymes by your doctor, he should recommend and prescribe the type and quantity, or recommend a natural supplement, if that is all that is necessary. Any competent gastroenterologist should be able to do this for you.
I have had bloodwork which confirms my chronic pancreatitis by elevated amylase and lipase levels, and the need for pancreatic enzyme supplementation. This was established and diagnosed after an acute pancreatitis attack over a year ago. Many other diagnostic procedures were done as well. My lipase level has returned to normal, yet amylase remains slightly elevated due to pancreatic pseudocysts still present in my pancreas.
Hopefully you are seeing a gastroenterologist, and these tests that you mention are ones that he has scheduled to further investigate your present problems. You don't mention what specific tests are scheduled, so I can't advise further.
Hope this helps.
