Premarin and Liver Function test results

I had a hysterectomy 17 years ago, am 47 yo, have been taking Premarin .625mg since
              my hysterectomy. A year ago my LFT results showed elevations of SGOT [154] and SGPT [161]
              and GTT . I do not smoke or drink alcohol. Full testing done to find cause of elevation
              resulted in all normal test results. Liver biopsy recommended next.
              My question: *CAN* Premarin cause elevated LFT results?

You know there was a good reason that HRT was recently discredited and women shouldn't be taking synthetic hormone replacement therapy. Look into the natural hormone creams if you can. When the liver is out of balance or infected with HepC we women get hormonal problems as its the liver that metabolizes these (and other) hormones. Good luck to you!

I too have had a hysterectomy when I was 35, now take Premarin .625, and have been diagnosed with a liver disease, (primary biliary cirrhosis).  Is there a common thread here?

I am 38 and also have a liver that is elevated I take homorones too.

I doubt if the Premarin has caused the elevated test results.  I would recommend you post your question under the Hepatitis heading because there is a medical person that monitors the hepatitis forum and he/she can answer your question a little better.
